IDC Names Innovative Applications Companies Under $100M to Watch, as Software Industry Business Models Shift

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(Business Wire)--
In an effort to highlight applications vendors with revenues of less than $100
million who are adapting and innovating around current shifts in the software
market, IDC has identified ten innovative applications companies under $100M to
watch.

"IDC has projected 2009 as a year of accelerated adoption of new business models
for applications, including software as a service and open source, as well as
Web 2.0 capabilities and functionality," says Michael Fauscette, group vice
president, Software Business Solutions, IDC. "The young companies in this report
are at the forefront of these emerging trends that will shape the future
direction of software and add significant value to businesses."

To identify the companies to watch, IDC solicited entries from applications
vendors with annual revenues of less than $100 million who exemplified one or
more of three key trends in applications today. These trends, cited in January
2009 as part of IDC's applications predictions for the year, are:

* Acceleration of software as a service (SaaS), business process outsourcing
(BPO), and open source over traditional on-premise software
* New business models for software use by service providers
(software-within-a-service)
* Web 2.0-like functionality moves into the enterprise (e2.0).

Companies were judged on these criteria as a measure of their driving innovation
in applications software. The companies selected in the applications category
are (in alphabetical order):

* Atlassian
* Clarizen, Inc.
* IGLOO Inc.
* Intacct
* Jive Software Inc.
* Kaltura
* RumbaFish Technologies, Inc.
* Service-now.com
* Telligent
* Trampoline Systems Ltd

The IDC study, Innovative Application Software Companies Under $100 Million to
Watch (Doc #220505), profiles each of the companies based on their
exemplification of one or more of the three IDC evaluation criteria. These
criteria were selected from IDC's Worldwide Applications 2008 Top 10
Predictions(IDC #210514). The consideration and analysis of companies for this
document consisted of two rounds. The first round was completed by a group panel
consisting of key analysts covering software applications and in the second
phase the narrowed list was reviewed by key IDC research executives.
